Roots, people, service, legacy.
From a group meeting in Gayaza in mid-2021 to a chartered club in Rotary District 9213 with a family of youth clubs of its own.
Chapter one
Where we started
In mid-2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a group in Gayaza started meeting formally as a Rotary club in formation. Two neighbouring clubs supported them: the Rotary Club of Kasangati and the Rotary Club of Kisaasi-Kyanja. Within months, the group was out in Mundazabazzadde and Nakwero A supporting affected households. On 16 December 2021 the club received its charter.
June 2021
Formal meetings begin

Rotary International charters the Rotary Club of Gayaza (Club ID 223384) in District 9213, with 35 charter members.

Chapter two
How we grew
A chartered club installs officers, joins district life and builds a habit of service. Gayaza did all three. It also did something many young clubs wait years to attempt: it helped young people start clubs of their own.

The club supports the chartering of two school Interact clubs and the Rotaract Club of Gayaza Technical School.

The district reports 600+ community members mobilised through health outreach and 24+ bodaboda riders trained.

Where we are going
The 2026-27 Rotary year opens under President Noah Ntensibe, with District Governor Gerald Obai's official visit on 11 October 2026.
